Protecting You and Your Business from the Heartbleed Bug

Provided By: Blog.kw

Keller Williams is committed to protecting the digital privacy and security of our associates and the clients we serve.

As soon as the KW Technology Team learned about the potentially disruptive Heartbleed bug, we tested our systems for vulnerabilities. We are pleased to report that our systems have not been compromised. We also reached out to our technology partners to determine if they had been affected. Again, we are pleased to share that the security of our associates and clients does not appear to have been breached.

Below are responses from the major technology providers who help power the KW productivity tools you rely on every day, from the KW mobile app to our lead-to-close transaction system, eEdge.

While your primary work tools appear safe, we encourage you to take safeguards with other websites, services or apps that you use.

Password Safety
Here are a few tips to ensure that your password keeps your protected:

Always create a strong password. A strong password is one that is at least eight characters long, is significantly different from your previous passwords, and contains a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters (such as !, @, # or $)
Avoid reusing the same password for multiple accounts

Update your password on a regular basis. You should change your passwords at least every 90 days

Do not share your password with anyone. If you must write it down to remember it, keep it in a safe and secure location where others cannot access it
