- Not having a timeline or plan. Make a plan and stick with it in order to avoid projects that drag out forever without conclusion. A timeline should include a clear beginning and end dates to keep you focused and on track.
- Under-Budgeting. Always over-budget in order to cover the many unforseen costs that often arise during the course of a project. Make a budget and then add 20% for a realistic goal.
- Taking on too much at one time. The best way to stay on top of hime improvemnt projects is to take on one at a time and schedule regular maintenance so problems don't pile up.
- Trying to do it all yourself. There are times you need help, no matter how good your intentions and skills. Don't hesitate to contact a contractor to explore your options.
- Not communicating with your contractor. Make sure you clearly lay out your vision, timeline and budget in order to avoid delays and addittional costs in the future.
